Relocation of charger production in 2024
In mid-2024, the project reaches another milestone when the existing battery charger production in Växjö, moves to the new factory in Öjaby. At the same time, the R&D center for battery chargers and the service department, are also moving. Initially, 200 employees will be working in the new factory.
With the new factory, Micropower plans to accelerate its production capacity to meet the increased demand from the market.
"With larger surfaces in combination with increased efficiency, we see the possibility of doubling the number of chargers produced" says Sven Olsson, project manager for the new battery and charger factory.
Local renewable energy and solar cells
In October, Micropower reached an agreement with local energy company, Växjö Energi AB. Micropower will use locally produced renewable energy. The agreement includes district heating, district cooling and ground heating. Another energy source will be solar cells. The battery and charger factory’s solar park will generate approximately 461 MWh.
Unique office building in wooden construction
The office, which will become the group's new headquarter, is shaped like a rotor. It’s not only distinctive in its appearance, but also in its construction. The building's construction is completely made of glulam, and the wooden construction will be visible throughout the office space.
